Why not bring literacy to life by creating films?  Could this also be a mechanism to drive the importance of teamwork and leadership?


These two questions, are what drove a dedicated board of directors to recreate what afterschool programming can look like. Below are work examples developed and created by students in the ICY Arts program thanks to the  dedication and mentorship provided by professionals in both education and the arts.

LIVE at 9 with Kontji Anthony

Winter/2024 ICY Arts students were invited to join Memphis' beloved Kontji Anthony on LIVE at 9. 


Student went on air to promote their latest film " A Charlie Brown Christmas" and to talk about the their experience as a student in ICY Arts @ W. H. Brewster Elementary School.

Thanks to the dedication of LOCAL ABC 24 family in Memphis, TN, Reporter and Anchor, Brittany Moncrease provided leadership training to our youth who spent time exploring journalism. 


Moncrease led a segment of students' virtual class with activities to empower student confidence and techniques to improve public speaking skills. Moncrease also served as the keynote speaker for both our students and community members during the official launch of ICY Arts-December 14, 2021.

Scripts for Skits, Summer 2022

Financial Literacy Project:


Leading up to support from the Truist Foundation, ICY Arts in partnership with Junior Achievement of the MidSouth created "Scripts for Skits" an interactive learning experience through which students cite evidence from the text to create a conversation: scripts to create a skit.

10/5/23 Ms. Cheryl Edwards-Gray, TRUIST Foundation announces partnership and a generous $25,000.00 financial contribution for ICY Arts to build a mobile literacy and technology lab for students.

ICY Arts Literacy and Technology Lab comes fully loaded with 2023 Apple Technology to include, 10 IMAC '24 inc computers and 10 IPADs (IPADs were purchased using 21st CCLC funds though the Tennessee Department of Education.)

ICY Arts Literacy and Technology Lab is home to classes in film creation for students across different topics to include informational literature: financial literacy and non-informational texts such as "A Charlie Brown Christmas"
